Busy week here in the woods. And we have just one more before we head back to Providence next week, before continuing onward to Bethesda for the Grand Celebration of the Matriarch on June 19th.
Tut tut, let’s get to it!

We welcome our latest guests. A stylish and petite pair sporting matching but inverted yellow and gray. Internships are available for those who can identify what kind of birds these are. |

Last week, you'll remember we tried out a path for the half-marathon that didn’t pan out. You must be wondering: does that mean the New Vineyard Classic is off?!?!?!
|
|
This week, we “ran” our second experimental New Vineyard Classic Half-Marat-Hike (aka “The Lake Loop”). This turns out to be an 11-mile loop. Only 1000 feet of elevation gain. Much less than the first experiment. Very light traffic. Nice! Let’s call it a win. We now have a path; stay tuned for dates as we schedule the half marathon itself. |

The big project this week was finishing clearing Four Wheel Drive Fear Trail. This is an existing trail that wanted some love. It got maybe a bit more than was the original plan. NEW 25 ACRES FEATURE: Watch the narrated trail tour here. Get nature tips, id trees, take a virtual walk through the woods, and more. Caution: the video runs 11 massively Mainely minutes. |

On Saturday, Our Sponsor and Your Faithful Correspondent took on our weekly Be-A-Tourist-In-Maine activity. Started with hiking. Here is Michelle on Tabletop Rock. On the way back, we stopped at a little brewery in Wilton for a beer. Like an English pub by a creek. Then ate at a great restaurant just on the edge of Farmington. Very exciting to have discovered these places nearby. |
|
I also spent some time this week leveling out the woodyard. Back-breaking. I mean, well, internships are available. This step wasn’t really scheduled for this year. But Michelle wanted some dirt for gardening. And, sure, we got dirt. It just needs to be disentangled from a pile of roots and rocks. With four pine tree stubs buried in there. Almost done. |

Finally, the mailbox is progressing nicely. Got the materials. Wood is cut to shape, notched, and beveled. The stain is drying now. And, the post hole awaits just across the street from our driveway (which is the side the carrier goes down). Just waiting for the stain to dry to finish up the installation and assembly. Maybe Monday, but if the stain takes a while to dry as it did for the shed, it could be later in the week. |

In the 25 Acres Store, the mug leaped out to be our biggest revenue generator this past week. Yep, we sold one, which is now in transit to Our Sponsor. And I thought it would be the Loki Artisanal T-Shirt for sure. That’s it for this week! |
